What we do

Small structures, done properly.

These are quick jobs when they are planned, and slow ones when asbestos or approvals are discovered halfway through. The site assessment settles both before a price is given.

  • Yellow excavator beside the remaining wall of a house during demolition

    Garages and workshops

Brick, block, timber or fibro, with or without the slab.

  • Excavator working behind Gabrael fencing and black site screening

    Sheds and carports

Steel, timber and fibro sheds; freestanding or attached carports.

  • Excavator and crew member on a site covered with broken masonry and timber

    Slabs, footings and driveways

Broken out and removed with the structure, or left in place.

Approval. Small sheds and carports can be exempt development; larger structures may need a CDC or DA. See the approval question.

Pricing

How we price this work.

Garage, shed and carport demolition is quoted after a free site assessment. A small steel shed and a fibro garage with a slab are very different jobs, so we do not publish a single price for them.

What sets the price

  • Size and construction of the structure
  • Asbestos sheeting to remove first
  • Slab, footings and driveway removal
  • Access for a small machine or hand demolition

Asbestos is the factor most likely to change the price of a small job; access is the next. Quotes are in Australian dollars, with no obligation.

The process

From assessment to a clear corner of the block.

  1. Assess and test

Structure, slab and access checked; suspected fibro tested by a NATA laboratory.

  2. Confirm the pathway

Whether it is exempt, complying or needs a DA, confirmed before work.

  3. Asbestos, then demolition

Asbestos removed and cleared first, then the structure taken down.

  4. Clear and hand over

Materials recycled, the area left level, records provided.

Small job, same care

Often booked with a house demolition or pool removal so one crew and one disposal run cover it all; attached structures are separated so the house is left sound.

Garage, shed and carport demolition FAQs.

The questions we are asked most before this work.

More demolition FAQs

How much does garage or shed demolition cost?

It is quoted after a free site assessment. The price depends on the size and construction, whether asbestos sheeting needs licensed removal first, whether the slab and footings come out, access for machinery and how the materials are disposed of. Small steel sheds are at the low end; fibro garages with slabs cost more because of the asbestos and concrete.

Do I need approval to demolish a garage, shed or carport?

It depends. Demolition of some small structures can be exempt development in NSW when the conditions in the State policy are met; other work needs a complying development certificate or a development application. The property’s zoning, heritage status and the structure itself all matter, and your council or a registered certifier confirms which pathway applies.

Does my fibro garage contain asbestos?

Many older fibro garages do, but the sheeting must be tested to know. We arrange sampling through a NATA-accredited laboratory. If the material is bonded, non-friable asbestos, it is removed within our Class B licence with clearance and disposal documentation before the structure is demolished.

Can you remove the concrete slab as well?

Yes. The slab, strip footings and any driveway section can be broken out and removed with the structure. Some owners keep the slab for a new shed or parking, so we ask rather than assume, and the quote says which applies.

How long does it take?

Most garage, shed and carport demolitions take a day or two on site, with asbestos removal and clearance adding to that where sheeting tests positive. Testing and any approval confirmation happen before the crew arrives.

Can you do it at the same time as the house?

Yes, and it is usually the most economical way. Outbuildings, pools, slabs and driveways need to be listed in the site assessment so they are included in the quote; a house demolition price does not automatically cover every structure on the block.

What if there is no side access?

A garage at the back of a block with no side access can be taken down by hand and carried out, or a smaller machine may be used through a temporary opening in a fence with the neighbour’s agreement. The assessment identifies the practical option and the quote reflects it.
